Last October 31th marked the beginning of our olive harvest here at Can Canals. We spent the week collecting the olives from our 2016 crop.
The types of olives we grow at Can Canals are Arbequina, Picual and Empeltre.
We harvested 2.5 tons of olives, some of which we prepared and seasoned and set aside for personal consumption and consumption in our restaurant throughout the season.
The rest of the olives were sent directly to the “TAFONA” to obtain olive oil. This year we produced 340 liters of extra virgin olive oil.
Like the olives, the olive oil is destined for personal consumption by the Ferrer family and for our hotel guests, who can sample it at breakfast and dinner in the Can Canals restaurant.
The remainder of the oil is sold directly at the hotel.
